Batesville Woman Indicted on Arson Charge in Lafayette County
A Batesville woman has been indicted in Lafayette County after authorities accused her of setting fire to her ex-boyfriend’s home.
A Lafayette County grand jury indicted Christina Willis on an arson charge in connection with the fire, which happened on County Road 333. If convicted, Willis could face between five and 20 years in prison.
The arson indictment is the latest in a series of legal troubles for Willis.
She was previously arrested as part of an investigation involving a homemade bomb discovered on a vehicle in the southwest portion of Lafayette County on June 20. Authorities said bomb technicians examined the suspicious package and determined it was a live, homemade explosive device.
The investigation led to the arrest of Willis, 27, of Batesville.
During a later search of a home along Highway 35 South in Panola County, investigators said they found another bomb, bomb-making materials, guns and drugs. Willis now faces attempted murder and bomb-related charges in Lafayette County, and she is also expected to face federal charges.
Authorities have not released additional details about the arson case.
