Community Calls for Organized Volunteer Support After Ice Storm
Community leaders are assessing ongoing needs following a severe ice storm, emphasizing the importance of organized volunteer efforts. They encourage residents eager to help to do so safely and intentionally.
To prevent duplication and unsafe situations, volunteers are asked to engage only with properly affiliated organizations, groups, and nonprofit partners equipped to deploy volunteers responsibly. Officials advise against self-deploying outside of local neighborhoods.
Additional volunteer opportunities will be shared as needs are confirmed. Updates can be found on the community’s resource page at https://linktr.ee/strongeroxford, officials said.
One current opportunity involves volunteering at warming centers as meal servers. Sign-up details for two shifts are available through the community’s volunteer portal.
Community members are encouraged to help spread the word and support organized recovery efforts. Officials reiterated that coordinated efforts are vital for a safe and effective response.
