Ice persists on roads across 14 Mississippi counties, prompting travel advisories

Ice continues to coat roads and bridges in 14 counties across northern Mississippi, according to reports as of 8 a.m. Saturday. The affected counties are Alcorn, Benton, Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Lafayette, Leflore, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, and Tunica.

Officials are advising residents to avoid unnecessary travel in the impacted areas. Those who must drive are urged to exercise extreme caution. The Mississippi Department of Transportation recommends checking live road conditions via its free Traffic app, available on the App Store and Google Play, or by visiting MDOTtraffic.com.
