Lafayette County Alerts Residents of Severe Weather Threat
Lafayette County officials issued a weather alert Monday, warning residents of a slight risk for severe weather. The National Weather Service has placed the area under a Level 2 out of 5 risk, citing the possibility of scattered showers in the morning and a line of thunderstorms expected to arrive around midday.
The primary threat from the system is large hail, according to authorities. Secondary threats include damaging winds, and while the chance is low, a tornado cannot be ruled out, officials said. This marks the first day of a multi-day severe weather outlook, with chances remaining lower Tuesday and increasing again Wednesday.
The Lafayette County Emergency Management Office is monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as forecasts evolve. Residents are advised to stay weather-aware and ensure they have multiple ways to receive warnings throughout the day.
