Lafayette County and Oxford Distribute MREs and Water

Distribution sites for MREs and water opened Tuesday in Lafayette County and the city of Oxford, with supplies available from noon to 4 p.m. or until stocks run out, according to officials.

The sites include the Harmontown SO Substation at 12 County Road 517, Lafayette High School at 160 Commodore Drive, Lafayette County Fire Station 3 at 22 County Road 369, Oasis Church at 861 Highway 6 West, and several locations in Oxford such as City Hall, CB Webb, Wayne Johnson Thacker at Garden Terrace.

Officials said each person can receive up to three days’ worth of supplies to ensure distribution reaches as many residents as possible. The effort is supported by the National Guard, which is staffing the sites and working to serve the community.

Residents are asked to be patient and courteous, as supplies are limited and distribution will continue until stocks are depleted.
