Lafayette County warns residents of upcoming ice storm

Lafayette County officials are urging residents to remain indoors and exercise caution as a new round of ice is expected to begin later Saturday night and continue into Sunday, according to a county update.

The sheriff’s office warned that downed power lines may still carry electricity. Residents are advised to stay away from any fallen lines and to report their locations to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The update also noted that there could be power outages as a result of the ice accumulation. Officials said they will provide further updates if the storm affects power supplies in the area.
