Mississippi County Distributes MREs and Water to Residents

Officials in Lafayette County and the city of Oxford, Mississippi, are distributing meals and water to residents through several designated sites. The distribution runs from noon to 4 p.m., while supplies last.

The effort is a collaboration between Lafayette County Emergency Management, the city of Oxford, the Mississippi National Guard, and response teams. Each person is limited to three days’ worth of supplies to ensure broader community access, according to authorities.

Distribution points include the Harmontown SO Substation, Lafayette High School, Lafayette County Fire Station 6, Taylor Activity Center, Lafayette County Fire Station 11, Oasis Church, and various sites within the city of Oxford such as City Hall, Heritage Park, and several neighborhood locations. Bottled water is also available at select sites.

Officials urge residents to be patient and respectful as volunteers and National Guard members work to serve the community. Supplies are limited and will be provided until they run out, authorities said.
