Mississippi distributes MREs and water at multiple sites amid shortages
Mississippi National Guard members are distributing Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) and bottled water at several locations in Lafayette County and Oxford. The distribution began at noon and will continue until supplies are exhausted.
Each person is limited to three days’ worth of supplies to ensure more residents can receive aid, according to officials. In Lafayette County, sites include the Harmontown Sheriff’s Office Substation at 12 County Road 517, Lafayette High School at 160 Commodore Drive, Lafayette County Fire Station 3 at 22 County Road 369, and Oasis Church at 861 Highway 6 West.
In Oxford, the distribution points are City Hall, CB Webb, Wayne Johnson Thacker at Garden Terrace, and other locations. Officials urge residents to be patient and courteous as staff work to serve the community. Supplies are limited and will be distributed until they run out, authorities said.
