Mississippi Driver Service Centers Closed or Delayed Due to Winter Storm
Mississippi driver service centers in the northern and central regions will be closed Wednesday due to winter weather, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
Southern Region locations will open at 10 a.m., after a delayed start caused by the storm. Officials are monitoring conditions and will provide updates as necessary, the department said.
Commissioner Sean Tindell urged residents to stay home and avoid travel. “Winter weather has impacted central and north Mississippi. We encourage everyone to stay home, stay warm, and avoid travel if possible,” he said. “We are taking precautions to protect our employees while continuing essential services, and keeping everyone safe as our top priority.”
The department also expressed gratitude to first responders and frontline workers managing the storm. The storm, identified as winter storm Fern, has caused widespread disruptions across the state, officials said.
