Mississippi Highway Patrol and Department of Public Safety celebrate 88 years of service

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety and the Mississippi Highway Patrol are celebrating their 88th anniversary this year.

Established in 1938 under Senate Bill 161, the agencies have spent nearly nine decades serving and protecting the residents of Mississippi, according to officials.

From their early days with initial patrol cars to today’s officers, the agencies’ mission remains focused on keeping roads safe and communities secure, they added.

Officials noted that the agencies continue to uphold their core values of dedication, integrity, and honor as they move forward into the future.
