Mississippi Offers Water and Meal Distribution Sites Amid Supplies Shortage

Residents in Lafayette County and Oxford can access meal and water distribution sites today from noon to 4 p.m., or until supplies run out, according to local authorities.

In Lafayette County, distribution points include the Harmontown Sheriff’s Office Substation at 12 County Road 517, Lafayette High School at 160 Commodore Drive, Lafayette County Fire Station 3 at 22 County Road 369, and Oasis Church at 861 Highway 6 West. In Oxford, residents can visit City Hall, CB Webb, Wayne Johnson, Thacker, and Garden Terrace.

Officials said the supplies include MREs and water, with a limit of up to three days’ worth per person to ensure equitable distribution. The Mississippi National Guard is staffing the sites to serve the community, and residents are asked to be patient and courteous.

The distribution will continue until supplies are depleted, and residents are encouraged to arrive early. The effort aims to support those affected by ongoing shortages or disruptions.
