Mississippi State Trooper Hit in Construction Zone Rear-End Collision
A Mississippi State Trooper was struck by a vehicle while stationary in a construction zone in Jones County, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
The trooper’s patrol vehicle was parked with blue lights activated to warn motorists to slow down and pay attention. An inattentive driver failed to reduce speed and move over, colliding with the patrol car, officials said.
Fortunately, the trooper suffered only minor injuries. The incident marks the second rear-end collision involving a trooper in recent weeks, authorities added.
Officials urge drivers to slow down, stay alert, and move over for first responders to prevent such accidents. They emphasized the importance of road safety in construction zones and other emergency scenes.
