OIS Librarian Wins Prestigious Literacy Award

Ocean Island School librarian Wendy Daughdrill has been honored with the Kaigler-Lamont Award from the University of Southern Mississippi. The award recognizes her contributions to children’s literacy across Mississippi.

As part of the recognition, the school will receive $500 to purchase new library books. The funds are intended to benefit students and enhance the school’s library resources.

School officials and colleagues congratulated Daughdrill on the achievement, which highlights her dedication to improving literacy and fostering a love of reading among children.
