Oxford Board of Aldermen Vote to Continue Mask Mandate
Despite Governor Tate Reeves allowing the statewide mandate to expire on Wednesday night, the Oxford Board of Aldermen stated they would meet Thursday to discuss the state of the city’s separate mask ordinance.
They have now come to a decision.
The board voted on Thursday by a count of 5-1 to continue to require masks inside all businesses and at public gatherings when social distancing is not possible within the city limits of Oxford.
There has been no word as to when the ordinance will be lifted. The current executive order regarding restrictions with the COVID-19 pandemic expires on November 11.
