Oxford residents and local organizations are giving thanks to the numerous volunteers, businesses, and agencies that responded during Winter Storm Fern. The storm brought power outages, impassable roads, and significant tree damage across the region, but the community’s resilience shined through, according to a community statement.

The community acknowledged utility crews, contractors, food providers, medical personnel, first responders, and supporting businesses for their efforts. Local officials emphasized that the list of those who helped is incomplete, but the gratitude is sincere.

Among those recognized are the City of Athens Electric, C Spire, Decatur Utilities, and the Tennessee Valley Authority, along with contractors like ABC Tree and JW McCurdy – MR Construction. Local dining establishments, lodging providers, healthcare workers, and agencies such as the American Red Cross also received thanks for their roles in recovery efforts.

The community also highlighted the contributions of individuals and volunteers, including residents like Crystalin Lewis and David Blackburn. Officials encouraged residents to remember those who stepped up when making decisions about where to eat, shop, and hire in the future. The message concluded with an invitation to tag and thank those who helped during the storm.
