Oxford prepares for final storm debris collection pass

Oxford officials are conducting the final storm debris collection, with a deadline set for residents to place debris at the curb by Monday, April 6, according to city communications.

After the final pass, any debris left on the street becomes the homeowner’s responsibility to remove. The city advises residents to separate storm-related branches and vegetation from construction debris such as damaged fences or siding.

Mixing household trash, paint cans, or non-storm yard waste with storm debris will result in trucks skipping those piles, as third-party monitors enforce the rules. Items like garage cleanouts, old furniture, and debris from hired remodeling contractors do not qualify for pickup.

Normal trash and furniture collection services have resumed on regular schedule days. The city also notes that narrow streets without a first pass may take longer to service, as smaller equipment is used.

Officials remind residents to avoid rushing repairs or tree removal. They advise obtaining multiple quotes from licensed professionals before contracting private contractors, especially under pressure from third parties.
