Oxford School District Plans Phased Return After Ice Storm Disruptions

Oxford School District announced a phased reopening plan after severe ice storms disrupted the community. The district is coordinating with city officials, utility providers, and its own operations team to ensure a safe return for students and staff.

According to district officials, some operational staff will return two days before students to prepare campuses, transportation, and food services. Certified staff will arrive one day earlier to ready classrooms and review instructional plans. Students are not expected to return before Monday, Feb. 9, and the district will continue to assess conditions daily.

Superintendent Bradley Roberson emphasized the importance of ensuring facilities are fully prepared, transportation routes are safe, and staff facing storm-related challenges receive support. The phased approach aims to create a safe, stable environment for students’ first day back.
