Oxford School District reports mostly exterior damage after storm

Oxford School District officials said most damage to campuses is exterior and caused by fallen trees. They reported no known structural damage to school buildings.

The district noted that the impact has been concentrated on outdoor areas and athletic facilities. Inside, a few minor leaks have been identified, which were expected given the storm conditions. No burst pipes have been reported as of this morning.

All schools have power except for Cherokee Elementary School and Oxford Intermediate School. Cleanup efforts are ongoing and may take time due to extensive tree damage across multiple sites. The district plans to return to classes Monday and will communicate any changes by the weekend.

District officials emphasized the importance of safety during this challenging time. They expressed optimism about recovery and community resilience. #WeAreOxford
