Power restoration continues amid winter storm, officials warn of unreliable notifications
Power restoration efforts are ongoing after a winter storm, with notifications going out as sections of the system are re-energized, according to utility officials. However, they warn these alerts may not be fully reliable during the restoration process.
Crews are currently focused on restoring the system’s backbone, including three-phase lines that serve critical infrastructure such as water and gas facilities. When a section of line is repaired and energized, an automated message is sent to customers connected to that section.
Utility officials noted that if a customer’s service is fed from a tap line beyond the main line, they might not receive power even if a notification indicates restoration. Customers experiencing continued outages despite receiving a restoration notice are encouraged to re-report their outage to help crews identify and address remaining damage outside the main system.
