Power Restoration Underway Across Service Area Amid Severe Storm Conditions

Utility crews are actively working across the entire service territory following a severe storm that knocked out power for approximately 95% of the system at its peak, according to company officials.

Currently, 27 crews are in the field, with additional crews arriving tomorrow and Wednesday. By Wednesday morning, the utility expects to have about 50 crews working toward full restoration.

Conditions remain challenging, and officials say the restoration process is complex and ongoing. Crews from the Tennessee Valley Authority are on site at the West Oxford and Taylor substations, making good progress. Officials anticipate that these substations will be energized within the next 24 hours, allowing crews to begin restoring power in those areas.

The substation serving the university was energized Monday morning. The utility also plans to energize two additional substations today and two more tomorrow. Crews are currently clearing right of way on the Lafayette Springs circuit and in the Thaxton and Hurricane areas. Construction crews are working in the Highway 334, Tula, and Paris regions to facilitate future restoration efforts.

While specific restoration times cannot be provided, officials emphasize that progress is steady, and more customers will have power restored each day. The company urges patience and thanks customers for their understanding as crews work safely and diligently to restore service across the territory.
