Sardis Man Arrested on Statutory Rape, Child Molestation Charges

The Oxford Police Department has arrested a Sardis man following a sexual assault investigation.

According to authorities, on August 12, detectives received a report of a sexual assault. After interviewing the victim and multiple witnesses, investigators identified the suspect as 40-year-old Everett Collins of Sardis.

Collins was taken into custody and formally charged with statutory rape and child molestation. He appeared before a municipal court judge for his initial bond hearing.

Police have not released further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
