University of Mississippi Oxford campus to reopen Monday after storm recovery

The University of Mississippi in Oxford announced that its campus will reopen on Monday, Feb. 9. Some operations will be modified as maintenance crews work to recover from recent storm damage, the university said.

Students experiencing power outages or travel issues are advised to communicate with their instructors. Employees who live in vulnerable areas or cannot return to work on Monday should contact their supervisors, the university added.

Employees are expected to return to campus no earlier than Monday morning, Feb. 9, to allow crews space to work safely. Students living on campus are encouraged to return on Sunday, Feb. 8, after 1 p.m., when dining facilities will reopen. The university noted that some students may need to arrive earlier due to flight schedules or other travel constraints, and additional guidance will be communicated by the Department of Student Housing.

Off-campus students should plan their return carefully, checking for storm-related issues and potential power outages. Those facing travel challenges are urged to contact their instructors. A university call center at 662-915-7211 will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to assist students and staff with storm-related issues and resource needs.

Officials emphasized that campus visits should focus on classes, work, dining, and other regular activities. Regional campuses will coordinate their operating hours with the main campus. Updates will be posted on campus websites, and students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to check their university email regularly for further information.
