Warming Centers Open in Lafayette County and Oxford to Help Cold-Weather Residents

Warming centers are now open in Oxford and Lafayette County to provide shelter from the cold. Oxford city centers are open immediately, while Lafayette County centers will open at 9 a.m. Saturday, according to local officials.

In Oxford, warming centers include the Oxford Police Department at 9 Industrial Park Drive and four Oxford Fire Department stations located at 399 McElroy Drive, 399 F.D. “Buddy” East Parkway, 139 Highway 7 South, and 200 Mall Drive.

Lafayette County will open its centers at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Lafayette County Fire Department stations located at 599 Highway 310, 153 County Road 436, 11 County Road 287, 4 County Road 109, and 8 County Road 4089.

Officials recommend bringing medications, phone chargers, and blankets or coats if available. In case of emergencies, residents should call 911. For non-emergency assistance, residents are advised to contact their local agency’s non-emergency line.
