Warming Centers Open in Oxford and Lafayette County as Cold Weather Continues
Warming centers are now open in the city of Oxford and Lafayette County to help residents escape the cold weather. The City of Oxford’s warming centers are open immediately, according to officials.
Lafayette County’s warming centers will open Saturday at 9 a.m. and will remain available for those in need. Locations in Oxford include the Oxford Police Department at 9 Industrial Park Drive and four fire department stations at 399 McElroy Drive, 399 F.D. ‘Buddy’ East Parkway, 139 Highway 7 South, and 200 Mall Drive.
Lafayette County’s centers are located at the Lafayette County Fire Department stations at 599 Highway 310, 153 County Road 436, 11 County Road 287, 4 County Road 109, and 8 County Road 4089. Officials advise residents to bring medications, phone chargers, and blankets or coats if available.
In case of emergency, residents are instructed to call 911. For non-emergency needs, they should contact their local agency’s non-emergency line, according to authorities.
