Hazard mitigation planning meeting set for Nov. 3 in Oxford
Lafayette, Marshall and Benton counties are updating their Hazard Mitigation Plan, according to an announcement from Lafayette County Emergency Management Agency. The plan is intended to guide efforts to reduce damage from flooding, severe storms and other hazards before they occur.
A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at North East MS EPA, 1389 Cooperative Way, Oxford.
Participants can share local concerns about flooding, storm damage and other hazards. They also can identify roads, facilities and services that need protection and help select projects that could reduce damage and disruption.
Residents, businesses and community partners are welcome to attend. The announcement said technical expertise is not required and encouraged participants to bring knowledge about where they live and work.
