Lafayette County sheriff warns of Ole Miss football ticket scams on Facebook
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office is warning the community about ticket scams circulating on Facebook ticket exchange pages, according to a post from the office.
The office said it received reports of people sending money to individuals advertising Ole Miss football tickets and never receiving the tickets they paid for.
The sheriff’s office advised buyers to purchase only from verified, trusted sellers and to be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true. Buyers should verify both the tickets and the seller before sending money, the office said.
The office also recommended using secure payment methods that offer buyer protection whenever possible and avoiding methods that provide little or no protection. A Facebook profile, positive comments or screenshots of tickets do not guarantee that a seller is legitimate, according to the warning.
The sheriff’s office encouraged people to share the warning to help protect others from ticket fraud.
