Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office features Investigator John Dutton

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office featured Investigator John Dutton in a social media post introducing members of the office to the community through its “Meet Us Monday” series.

Dutton said he is from Festus, Missouri, and that he enjoys investigative work because it allows him to solve problems, seek answers and make a difference. He said each case is different and requires critical thinking, communication and attention to detail.

Dutton also said he takes pride in helping victims and their families get answers and in helping make the community safer. He described the work as rewarding because it has a direct impact on people.

Asked what he wanted the public to know about the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office or Lafayette County, Dutton said the community comes together to help neighbors and friends during times of crisis. He cited an ice storm during which he said he saw strangers help one another survive and rebuild.

The sheriff’s office said the recurring series asks members of its team about where they are from, what they enjoy about their jobs and what they want the public to know about the office or Lafayette County.
