Lafayette County sheriff’s office shares emergency preparedness reminders

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office shared an emergency preparedness reminder attributed to Sheriff Joey East, encouraging residents to plan for severe weather, power outages and other unexpected situations.

The message recommended keeping flashlights, batteries and a first-aid kit on hand. It also advised residents to maintain supplies of bottled water and nonperishable food and to keep essential medications accessible.

Residents were encouraged to know where to go during severe weather and to create a family emergency plan. The plan should ensure that all family members know how to contact one another, according to the message.

The reminder concluded: “A little preparation today can help keep you and your family safer tomorrow! Stay prepared. Stay safe.”
