Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office shares safety reminders after clocks fall back
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office shared safety reminders after clocks fell back an hour, noting that darkness now arrives earlier around the time many people are driving home, walking or running errands.
The notice advised drivers to turn on their headlights early, slow down and watch for pedestrians, cyclists and deer. It said deer are especially active at dusk this time of year.
At home, residents were encouraged to turn on porch lights, lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight. Parents were also advised to make sure children know the new “home before dark” time.
The notice addressed Lafayette County residents and encouraged extra caution as evening conditions change.
