Detective Hollowell Receives Blue Line Award for Scam Assistance

Detective Scott Hollowell of the Oxford Police Department has been awarded the department’s Blue Line Award for his work assisting an elderly community member affected by a financial scam.

After taking the initial report, Hollowell continued to investigate and worked to stop the ongoing fraud, according to a department statement. His efforts helped protect the victim and facilitate their recovery process.

Thanks to his persistence and compassion, the victim has recovered more than half of the money lost — a rare outcome in scam cases, authorities said. The department praised Hollowell for serving with wisdom, compassion, and dedication.
