Lafayette County deputies seek suspect in arson cases

Deputies from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office are asking residents in the Highway 30 East area near County Road 251 to be on alert for Alexander Kent. Officials say he is a suspect in two separate arson cases with no injuries reported.

Law enforcement officials believe Kent may be suffering from a mental health crisis. He was last seen wearing a dark gray sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.

The sheriff’s office urges residents to stay indoors, lock their vehicles, and call 911 if they see anything suspicious. Deputies and investigators are currently on scene and patrolling the area.

There have been no injuries reported in connection with the fires, and authorities continue to search for Kent to ensure community safety.
