Lafayette County K-9 Unit Visits Local Elementary School
Deputy Dutton and his K-9 partner, Rip, visited Lafayette Lower Elementary School on Thursday morning. The deputies talked with first graders about Rip’s job, including narcotics detection and search-and-rescue work, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Students had the opportunity to pet Rip and watch him run fast, fulfilling their request. Deputy Dutton also explained how he cares for Rip and the importance of K-9 units in law enforcement.
The visit aimed to educate children about community safety and foster positive relationships between law enforcement and residents. The sheriff’s office described the event as a successful and enjoyable morning for everyone involved.
