Lafayette County woman charged with embezzlement over unpaid furniture

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Sunny Baddour, 38, of Oxford, Mississippi, on embezzlement charges related to a furniture scam. Baddour is the owner of Hazel Bleu Designs.

The sheriff’s office said investigators received a report on August 3 that a local resident paid Baddour more than $8,500 for furniture in February and March. The complainant said the furniture was never delivered, and Baddour stopped communicating.

Following an investigation, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Baddour on August 12. She was taken into custody without incident at the sheriff’s office on August 17 and booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center. Her bond was set at $20,000 by a Lafayette County Justice Court judge.

The sheriff’s office reminded the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
