Mississippi faces enhanced risk of severe storms, including tornadoes

Severe weather is expected to impact parts of Mississippi on Thursday, with the National Weather Service issuing an enhanced risk level for severe storms. The Level 3 designation out of 5 indicates a heightened threat of dangerous weather conditions.

Forecasters warn residents to stay alert and prepared. The threats include damaging winds up to 70 mph, hail up to golf ball size, and the possibility of tornadoes. Officials say a strong tornado cannot be ruled out in some areas.

The weather service recommends that residents monitor updates throughout the day, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and identify a safe place in case of severe weather warnings. Authorities urge people to take precautions to stay safe during the event.
