OHS Speech & Debate team wins four state championships at MHSAA tournament

Several students from OHS Speech & Debate competed at the MHSAA State Championships this weekend, achieving the team’s best performance ever, according to school officials.

The team won four state championships and finished third overall in debate sweeps. The champions include Jasper Parsons and Max Millinovich in Policy Debate, Sienna Reilly and Yewon Woo in Duet Acting, Sienna Reilly in Expository Speaking, and Jun Jang and Hugh Wilson in Public Forum Debate.

Hugh Wilson also finished as a state runner-up and received a $1,500 scholarship, school officials said. The students’ success highlights their dedication and skill at the statewide event, held over the weekend.

School officials expressed pride in the students’ achievements and credited their hard work for the historic results. The team’s performance marked a new high point in the program’s history.
