Oxford hosts successful ‘Bit of the Sip’ weekend, featuring local businesses and community events

Oxford’s annual ‘Bit of the Sip’ weekend concluded with a successful event that showcased the city’s vibrant food scene and community spirit. The event featured 20 unique culinary experiences over four days, with participation from 40 local businesses, according to organizers.

Participants included a mix of residents and visitors from across Mississippi and beyond. Attendees traveled from Jackson, Tupelo, Starkville, Hattiesburg, Cleveland, Gulfport, and Ocean Springs, as well as out-of-state visitors from Colorado, Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas, the event’s organizers said.

Event highlights included a collaboration with Gran Fondo cyclists, who joined the festivities after their rides. The event also hosted a food truck competition, with Doors of Hope and The Lunch Box teams earning top honors. Funds raised from the event supported local charities including Doors of Hope, LOFT, and The Pantry.

Organizers announced plans to host the event again next year, scheduled for August 12-15. They expressed gratitude to participants and supporters for making the weekend a memorable celebration of Oxford’s community and culinary offerings.
