Oxford police officer Johnny Sneed retires after 26 years of service

Oxford police officer Johnny Sneed was honored Tuesday night with a retirement proclamation from the Oxford Board of Aldermen. Sneed’s career spans more than 26 years, beginning with the Batesville Police Department in 1998 before joining the Oxford Police Department in 2005.

Throughout his tenure, Sneed served in various roles and became a familiar face around the town square. He earned the unofficial title of ‘Mayor of the Square’ from residents and colleagues alike. Sneed is also known as the undefeated cornhole champion, a title he has maintained for years, according to the department.

The department expressed gratitude for Sneed’s service and dedication to Oxford. The board and community members wish him well in retirement.
