Oxford School District honors staff with inaugural Sustainer Pin awards

Oxford School District has recognized two staff members with its first Sustainer Pin awards. LaTeasha Blackmon, senior executive assistant and board clerk, and Heather White, executive assistant, were honored for their contributions to the district.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Germain McConnell praised Blackmon, saying she has consistently represented the district positively and professionally. McConnell added that Blackmon has served with three superintendents and has been a dependable supporter.

Bradley Roberson, a former superintendent, highlighted Blackmon’s ability to connect with people regardless of circumstances. Roberson said her calming presence is a key trait that makes her effective in her role.

Deputy Superintendent Marni Herrington commended White for her efficiency and thoughtful approach. She said White keeps the department running smoothly, often anticipating needs before they arise.

Dr. Steve Hurdle, chief of operations, praised White’s work ethic and initiative, noting her ability to handle multiple tasks with a smile. Both recipients were congratulated for their dedication and service to the district.
