Oxford Shred Day Breaks Records with 14,000 Pounds of Paper
Oxford’s Spring Shred Day broke its previous record Saturday, collecting more than 14,000 pounds of paper from approximately 300 vehicles, according to city officials.
The event, sponsored by FNB and managed by Direct Shred, saw the shred truck filled to capacity. The previous record was 6,000 pounds.
All shredded paper is sent to a recycling facility and repurposed into brown paper towels used in restaurants and hotels, officials said.
City officials thanked residents for participating and making the event a record-breaking success.
