Power restoration efforts continue across service territory, with more crews arriving
Utility crews are actively working throughout their service territory to restore power after a severe storm caused widespread outages. Currently, 27 crews are in the field, with more arriving tomorrow and Wednesday. By Wednesday morning, officials expect about 50 crews to be working toward full restoration.
Conditions remain difficult, and officials say the restoration process is complex and may take time. At the storm’s peak, approximately 95% of the system was without power. The utility cannot provide specific restoration times but reports ongoing progress with more customers expected to regain service each day.
Crews from the Tennessee Valley Authority are on site, focusing on the West Oxford and Taylor substations. They are making good progress and are optimistic that power will be restored within the next 24 hours, enabling additional crews to begin work in those areas. The substation serving the university was energized this morning, with plans to energize two more today and two more tomorrow.
Work continues on clearing right of way in areas including Lafayette Springs, Thaxton, and Hurricane. Construction crews are also operating in Highway 334, Tula, and Paris. As right-of-way work advances, line crews will be able to begin restoring power in those areas.
Officials emphasize that crews are working throughout the entire territory and thank customers for their patience and understanding during this extended restoration effort.
