Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Lafayette County

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Lafayette County until 3 a.m. CDT, according to a statement from the agency.

The warning covers areas including Oxford, Abbeville, Taylor, Tula and Denmark, as well as surrounding parts of Lafayette County. The primary threats are damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail, which could cause damage to trees, power lines and vehicles.

Residents are advised to stay alert for potential power outages and downed trees. The weather service recommends having multiple methods to receive alerts overnight, such as Wireless Emergency Alerts and NOAA Weather Radio.
