The University of Mississippi announced that its campus will be closed through Tuesday, Jan. 27, as the region continues to recover from a severe ice storm.
The city of Oxford remains under a Shelter in Place order, with hazardous travel conditions, power outages, downed trees, and damage to buildings affecting the area, according to university officials.
In a message to the campus community, Chancellor Glenn F. Boyce acknowledged the widespread storm impacts and emphasized the university’s focus on safety and well-being. He thanked first responders and university teams for their efforts in response and recovery.
The university is providing support for students, including a warming shelter and dining services, as it assesses how to safely restore operations. Future updates on campus reopening will be communicated as conditions improve.
