Mississippi law enforcement agencies arrested two individuals and confiscated more than a million dollars worth of narcotics during a raid tied to a narcotics investigation in Jackson and Brandon.

Kristy Simmons has been named director of the Mississippi Medical Examiner’s Office, according to officials.

Emergency supplies will be distributed in Lafayette County and Oxford on Feb. 6, starting at noon. Supplies are limited and will end once gone.

Lafayette County will distribute meals and water on Feb. 6 at designated sites. Supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

County Road 303 in Taylor will be closed temporarily as crews remove downed lines and poles. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes.
