Lafayette County EMA forecasts mild, cloudy Halloween with rain chances

The Lafayette County Emergency Management Agency forecast mild and cloudy conditions for Halloween in Lafayette County, with a few scattered showers possible during the evening.

Between 5 and 9 p.m., temperatures were expected to fall from the mid-70s to the low 60s. The chance of rain was forecast at about 20% at 5 p.m., increasing to about 30% by 9 p.m. Southeast winds were expected to remain light at 5 to 10 mph.

Showers and a few thunderstorms were expected to become likely after 10 p.m. and continue into Sunday. The forecast called for a quarter to a half-inch of rain overnight and said severe weather was not expected.

The agency recommended that trick-or-treaters carry rain jackets or umbrellas, wear shoes with good grip and use flashlights, glow sticks or reflective tape to improve visibility. It also advised heading out early for the driest part of the evening and urged drivers to slow down in neighborhoods and on wet roads.
