Lafayette County sheriff spotlights The Pantry and its volunteer work

The Lafayette County Sheriff's Office spotlighted The Pantry of Oxford and Lafayette County in a recent Facebook post, recognizing the organization’s work providing food to local families, seniors and children for more than 30 years.

According to the post, The Pantry is run almost entirely by volunteers, including many members of church congregations across Lafayette County. The Sheriff's Office said the organization helps ensure residents have access to food and described its work as an important service to the community.

The Pantry is seeking donations and volunteers, particularly during the holiday season. Nonperishable food items can be dropped off at The Pantry, 713 Molly Barr Road.

Financial contributions can be mailed by check to The Pantry, P.O. Box 588, Oxford, MS 38655. The post said monetary donations allow The Pantry to buy food in bulk through regional food banks.

People interested in volunteering, asking about current hours or seeking help can call (662) 832-8001 or visit The Pantry of Oxford & Lafayette County on Facebook.
