Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office introduces Sheriff Joey East in “Meet Us Monday” feature

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office introduced Sheriff Joey East in a weekly feature designed to help residents get to know the people who work for the agency.

In the post, East said he is from Oxford, Mississippi, and that what he enjoys most about his job is “Helping my community.”

The Sheriff’s Office said the feature will introduce one member of its team each week and ask the same three questions about the person’s background, favorite part of the job and what they want the public to know about the agency or Lafayette County.

East said Lafayette County covers 679 square miles, including 47 square miles of water. He also said most of Sardis is in Lafayette County.

According to East, deputies patrol both land and water, while the agency’s 911 dispatchers answer all 911 calls in Lafayette County.
