Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office remembers 72 law enforcement officers killed Sept. 11, 2001
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks by remembering 72 law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
In a Facebook post, the office described the deaths as the single greatest loss of law enforcement life in American history in a single day.
The post said the officers ran into buildings as others were running from them and answered the call despite knowing the risks.
The office said the officers’ courage and sacrifice were being remembered on the anniversary.
