Investigator Todd Strange Among 11 in Mississippi to Earn Crimes Against Children Certification

Investigator Todd Strange is among 11 law enforcement officers in Mississippi to complete the state’s first Crimes Against Children Certified Investigator Course, according to officials. The program lasted four months, including four weeks of in-person instruction.

Only a handful of investigators nationwide hold a similar certification, and only 11 officers in Mississippi have achieved this credential, sheriff’s office officials said. The training aims to enhance the ability of officers to investigate crimes against children.

Sheriff Joey East highlighted the significance of the certification, noting that the department invests in its employees to better serve the community. The 11 graduates completed rigorous training and are now among the first in the state to hold this specialized accreditation.

Officials celebrated the achievement at a ceremony at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy. The officers volunteered for the challenging program to better protect vulnerable children across Mississippi.

Law enforcement officials emphasized the importance of this work and expressed pride in the officers’ accomplishments. The certification positions them to make a meaningful difference in their communities.
