Lafayette County deputies complete peer support training

Two Lafayette County law enforcement officers have completed a specialized training program aimed at peer support. Sgt. Doug Allen and Deputy Amanda Drew participated in the Law Enforcement Assistance Peer Support (LEAPS) training this week.

The course prepares officers to counsel and support colleagues experiencing difficult personal situations, according to the Lafayette County Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy. The program was conducted in partnership with LCLEOTA and Communicare Mississippi.

Officials expressed gratitude for the training, emphasizing its importance in fostering a supportive law enforcement community. The officers are expected to apply their new skills to assist colleagues facing mental health and personal challenges.
