Lafayette County Opens MRE and Water Distribution Sites Amid Supply Shortage
Lafayette County is distributing meals-ready-to-eat (MREs) and water at multiple sites, starting at noon and continuing until supplies are exhausted, according to officials.
Officials have limited distribution to three days’ worth per person to ensure broader access. Distribution sites include the Harmontown sheriff’s office substation, Lafayette High School, Lafayette County Fire Station 3, Oasis Church, Taylor Community Center, Lafayette County Fire Stations 14 and 12, and locations within the city of Oxford.
The Mississippi National Guard is staffing these sites to assist with distribution. Residents are asked to be patient and courteous during the process, as supplies are limited and the effort will continue as long as resources last.
Additional sites in Oxford include the CB Webb Wayne Johnson Thacker and Garden Terrace areas. Officials emphasized that the distribution is ongoing and urged community members to plan accordingly.
